Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or "AOC" as she has been dubbed in the media has seemingly taken the nation by storm. Since defeating incumbent Democrat Joseph Crowley to win the nomination and take to the house she has continued to shake things up in the political system. She took aim at Amazon when they were seeking to relocate to New York. She's taken on Tweet strikes from the President on several occasions.

Now, with the help of Senator Ed Markey (Mass.) the 29-year-old politician sets her sights on climate-change with the Green New Deal. The Green New Deal resolution, proposed by the two politicians on Feb. 7 looks to transform the United States from a climate-change-denier to a full on Vegan bro. the 14-page document includes specifics that will invest in renewable energy resources rather than diminishing fossil fuels. It also looks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create new jobs for the American people, and to secure an environmentally friendly United States for future generations. In short, it calls for big changes to the current infrastructure of the states to which she has received much pushback.

Complaints about funding specifics of the Green New Deal, whether the proposals are possible, or if the American people even want such a change. Even critics making jokes about the absurdity of cow flatulence in the document.

Regardless of the capabilities of actually adhering to this Green New Deal, Ocasio-Cortez receives this designation for simply taking action. Climate-change should not be a partisan issue in the states as it is backed by science. With all the talks about what is happening to this earth at rapid speed it is good to see Ocasio-Cortez taking initiative at the start of the year.
